Heel Pain
Heel pain is a common condition in which weight bearing on the heel causes extreme discomfort.
There are many different causes of heel pain, and a full history and examination are key to achieving the correct diagnosis which then leads to effective treatment planning.
Heel pain is common first thing in the morning on rising, and after longer periods of inactivity (e.g. sitting or driving). Heel pain will usually also lead to compensatory tight calf muscles, Achilles and associated structures surrounding the heel area.
Once we have diagnosed your condition, and assessed your biomechanics, it is usually advised that we offload the tissues, by using insoles, heel cups, and footwear modifications if necessary. We will also prescribe a bespoke rehabilitation programme for you to follow.
