Vitamins Overview

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that is produced in the soil and therefore naturally present in animal products such as meat and eggs. Required for several important functions in the body including keeping the nervous system healthy, forming red blood cells and DNA.  Vitamin B12 also regulates cell growth and metabolism.  Vitamin B12 deficiency presents in a number of ways with symptoms often mistaken or misdiagnosed as anxiety, depression, menopause, a natural part of the ageing process-it is usually none of these and is often overlooked/missed.

These can include (but are not limited to):

• extreme tiredness
• a lack of energy
• pins and needles
• frequent colds and sore throats
• mouth ulcers
• muscle weakness
• problems with your vision (blurred vision after a few hours)
• depression, anxiety and feelings of low self worth
• memory loss-walking into a room and forgetting why etc.

Those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet are particularly at risk, but most of us would benefit from regular Vitamin B12 injections which are administered intramuscular at the top of the arm, fast working and safe, therefore considered the gold standard in Vitamin B12 treatments.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat soluble essential nutrient responsible for the intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and is needed to keep bones, teeth & muscles healthy. This essential nutrient is required for many important body processes due to it’s assistance in the absorption of additional minerals.  Vitamin D is essential for the maintenance of general health and well-being, and particularly important during the darker Winter months.
